The best place for street food: SmokeShed

I haven’t written about SmokeShed in a while now, but I still visit them quite often (if you follow me on Instagram, you’ve seen my Instagram stories!), so I thought it was time to update you guys on the latest things we’ve tried.

I know last time I wrote about the Vietnamese Crave, which is still my absolute favourite and top recommendation, but this time I’m also here to talk to you about their dirty fries.

These are some well loaded fries with lots of crispy fried chicken on top and a bunch of delicious sauces that make my mouth water just by thinking about them. My favourite thing is that you can choose between normal fries and sweet potato fries. I always go for the latter, of course! Unless I’m sharing with Gabs, because this man can’t stand sweet potato fries.

Loaded fries at Smokeshed, Manchester

Left: Armadillo eggs. Right: Chicago style hot dog.

If you’re looking for something other than fries, I can also recommend their latest addition to the menu (I’m not sure if it’ll be permanent to I’d say visit them ASAP to avoid missing out!): Armadillo eggs.

These balls of crispy and delicious fried meat are filled with jalapeño, cream cheese and cheddar cheese, and G devoured them in less than 5 minutes. I tried them without the pepper because I’m not that brave, and I can tell you that the crispiness is to-die-for.

Now for that Chicago style hot dog, it’s such a simple yet delicious treat. The sausage is great, but my favourite part was the crispy onions on top. It was such a delicious mix of textures and flavours, perfect if you’re feeling extra hungry and the fries alone won’t do the trick for you.

As usual, I can’t recommend this place enough. Attention and service is A++ and they have the nicest staff. The owners are so incredibly passionate about what they do, I promise they always put their 300% into everything they serve in that kitchen, so you can always expect loads of flavour in every bite.

Next time you’re in town, pay them a visit. You’ll have the best street food lunch for less than £10, you can thank me later for that 😉

Thanks for reading me, and have a lovely week!
