I mean, when I think about brunch, I think about Fress (and they’re not even paying me to say this!). If you haven’t been here yet, I’ll give you one good reason right now.
I had this beautiful and yummy-looking dish on my radar ever since I saw it on their Instagram feed, so when Rebecca and I decided to get some brunch in the Northern Quarter, I knew Fress was the place.
I’m not even going to get into much detail about our experience because, as usual, it was fantastic. Fress’ staff is always both incredibly nice and helpful, and they’re definitely one of the reasons we keep coming back (apart from the amazing food, of course!).
Rebecca had also checked out these pancakes, from a carefully curated selection of pictures I sent her on instagram to persuade her 😉 so it didn’t take us too long to order.
I can’t stress enough how delighted and surprised I was when our plates arrived. This looked even more glorious in person!
But I know you’re not here to read about the looks. Let’s talk about the taste test.
The mix of textures was fantastic, to say the least. And the combination between the saltiness of the pork belly contrasting to the sweetness of the pancakes and that wonderful spiced maple syrup, made this a one-of-a-kind dish that surely leads the list of the most unique and delicious dishes I’ve ever tried.
Every bite was exquisite, but my favourite thing, as you probably can imagine, was combining a bit of each component in a forkful of deliciousness. The egg yolk proved to be my favourite sauce to bring all the flavours together, and the fluffy pancakes proved to be the best companion to that especially crispy and delicious pork belly.
I don’t think I can stress enough how much we enjoyed this dish, and I wish I had more things to share with you, but that’s pretty much all we had for brunch.
oh, and some cronuts!
I was finally early enough to get one of Fress’ popular cronuts, and it surely lived up to my expectations. In case you don’t know, a cronut is the mix between a croissant and a donut, crispy and sweet, full of yumminess and sugar in each bite.
The cronut was also fantastic, but the highlight of this foodventure will forever be that delicious stack we had.
That’s it for today. I know I usually share more things on my foodventures, but I still thought these pancakes deserved some serious recognition. Also, they’re not part of the regular menu, so I’d advise you to pay Fress a visit ASAP while they’re still on their special’s board.
Now tell me, what has been your favourite brunch so far? Have you been to Fress? What did you think? I’d love to hear from you! Leave me a comment below or message me on social. You can find me on Instagram (@michellelovestoeat), Twitter (@mlovestoeat), and Facebook (@michellelovestoeat).
If you think this wasn’t enough for a foodventure, maybe check this one from last Thursday out. It might not involve food, but it was surely great 😉
Make sure to come back on Thursday for another yummy foodventure, and don’t forget to follow me on Instagram for more insights on all things edible.
Thanks for reading me 🙂
