Yes, another list! If you were with me last Tuesday, then you knew this was coming. And if you weren’t, check out my top picks for this season’s best edible (and drinkable!) advent calendars. But hey, we’re not here to talk about the best ways to count down to Christmas any more. We’re here to talk about one of my favourite parts of the holidays: giving.

I truly think that this is the season of sharing and giving to others (and even to ourselves) not only material gifts (although I cannot deny those are nice sometimes) but also time to spend together, kindness, and even our undivided attention are amazing gifts that we can give on a daily basis (not only on the holidays) and sometimes we forget. I’m making it a mission to give more to people, because those little details can make someone’s day 😉

But anyway, if we talk about sharing, food is always a great excuse to connect and enjoy a special moment with your loved ones, and it’s also one of my favourite ways to demonstrate to people how much I like them and how much I value their company (I’ve got an obsession for baking and everyone around me seems to be happy with that), so I thought I’d put together a list of food-related gifts for the food lover in your life, the people that you want to share a bite with, or just anyone in general that you want to say ‘I don’t dislike you’.

Here we go!

1. For the one that loves surprises

I love surprises, so having a surprise in my mailbox once a month sounds like an amazing gift to me! Subscription boxes are a great way to treat them to something that they enjoy and sample some different items to see what they like. These days there are subscription boxes for EVERYTHING, but I’m here to talk you about some cool food related ones:

I’ve tried Dolce Twenty before and I LOVED their treats, read my review here.

I’ve never seen a subscription box like this one. Ideal for those obsessed with Japanese culture or the adventurous eaters, these premium Japanese will intrigue them every month.

And because you know how excited I was for the marshmallow advent calendar, I couldn’t skip the subscription box. Flavoured marshmallows every month? Yes, please!

There’s also one for artisanal meats (£32/mo), one for wine (from £31.90/mo), and one for cheese (from £31.90/mo) so you can pick whatever you prefer!

2. For the one that loves to cook

Couldn’t have a gift guide for food lovers that didn’t include a recipe book, right? But these cookbooks are not just full of delicious recipes, but funny or interesting to read too, so it’s more than ‘just another cookbook’ 😉

Chrissy is definitely my favourite celebrity in the entire globe. Not only she’s beautiful (and has the cutest baby in the world, with another on the way!), she’s also incredibly funny (hello, have you seen her tweets??) and everything that she cooks looks AMAZING. I’m not going to try to convince you. Just trust me, everyone will love this book.

A parody cookbook with a stranger things theme, I don’t think this needs an explanation.

If they don’t like to read, or get bored by incredibly long and complicated instructions, why not give them a cookbook where instructions are LESS THAN A TWEET (we can talk about twitter’s update in private, DM me your opinion!).

3. For the one that is always snacking

I’m always snacking. Like, constantly eating something, even if it’s just bubblegum. I even bring with me a little pack of peanuts or cashews on my purse just in case I get super hungry when I’m out, and one of my favourite snacks at home is popcorn! So the idea of trying flavoured popcorn intrigues me, specially when we’re talking about gourmet popcorn, and even cocktail flavoured ones!

4. For one that loves hot chocolate

I mean, who doesn’t love hot chocolate? This is the season to embrace it, and if you want to take it to a whole new level, why not give them some flavoured hot chocolate and marshmallows to make the perfect luxury hot chocolate kit? You can even come up with some combinations that you find interesting and see how it goes.

5. For the one that loves fancy food

I’m not necessarily talking about taking them to fancy restaurants or buying expensive wine, but  a set of gourmet condiments would make an amazing gift to those who like to cook and want to give their dishes a twist of flavour. There’s condiments for everything, and of course it depends on what you want to cook, but here are a couple of basics that everyone can enjoy.

5. For the chocoholic

Of course everyone loves a good fudge or chocolate (well, not everyone. I’ve actually met people that don’t like chocolate, but that’s a whole other story) but if you want to give them something different, maybe get them a flavoured truffle, or some gourmet fudge?

7. For the one that loves to DIY

We all have one friend who thinks that everything people put on Pinterest can be done in real life, so why not give them the chance to make their own gin, beer, and even cheese? Can’t guarantee that they’ll taste good but at least you’ll have a good time making it.

8. For the one that is into fitness

Or at least tries to be a bit more healthy every day. Or just the one that enjoys good looking stuff. I’m a big fan of water bottles and always have at least one with me wherever I go, so I’m always trying to find some cute or funny ones that reflect my personality a bit more. That’s what I loved about these S’ip bottles! They’re not only pretty, but also claim to keep your drinks cold for 24 hours. For the price and the look, they’re worth a try!

9. For the one that’s way too excited with Christmas

Admit it, we all have that one friend that’s obsessed with Christmas and brings out the Christmas decor way too early in the year. I’m not the grinch by any means but I can definitely recognise these people in my social circle and I find it hilarious. That being said, I think that anyone that enjoys the holidays would get good use of these baubles filled with premium craft spirits.

Also, they’re refillable so you can use them as many time as you want 😉

Okay, so you could say this is a 10th gift but it’s actually a complement to anything you pick! I found The Paper Cicada on Instagram and fell in love with all of their creations. These guys are not only artists, but they’re also super clever when it comes to puns (which I really love!). They have seasonal cards, special occasion cards, food pun cards, and of course, Christmas cards. They’re in the US but I actually talked to them and they offer some digital download cards for people all around the globe, and I’m sure that if you talk to them about a design you like, they’ll help you sort it out 😉

Well, that’s my list of recommendations for food lovers. I hope you got some ideas for your Christmas presents, and if you did, send me a photo of what you got! You can find me on Instagram (@michellelovestoeat), Twitter (@mlovestoeat), and Facebook (@michellelovestoeat).

Also, let me know if you enjoy this new ‘eat along’ section on my blog! I still don’t know if I should stay with the foodventures and restaurants reviews only or if you guys are actually enjoying this kind of content. All feedback is appreciated 🙂

Finally, if you’re not following me on Instagram, you should consider it! I’m running a giveaway (closes on 02/12) and I’ll be posting some cool Instagram stories this weekend 😉

That’s it for today. Thanks for reading me!

Michelle’s out.
