Was that food pun just lame or am I finally doing this right? I’m always struggling to come up with good captions for my Instagram shots but I promise I’m trying! If anyone has any good tips, message me 😉

Now, if you’re in for the real deal, we’re going to talk about some bomb food today, and it’s Tampopo’s turn. I’ve talked about one of their Taste Tours/Japanese supper clubs in the past, so you should definitely read that one next, but today we’re talking about their newest ramen additions to their menu!

You guys know me, I’m always up for a foodventure so when I heard that they had some new dishes, I just couldn’t resist.

Sticky wings: crispy fried chicken wings with sesame and a sweet soy and chilly glaze

Can’t go wrong with these babies!

My feelings for these haven’t changed since the last time we were here: the sticky wings are absolutely amazing and everyone needs to try them!

The glazing is delicious, the crispiness from the sesame seeds is an amazing touch, and the amount of flavour that you find on each bite makes these an absolute must on your next visit. I must warn you though, they are not exaggerating when they describe these as sticky, so get a good set of napkins because you’ll need them (but it’s completely worth the mess!).

Balinese pork belly: Slow roasted in cloves, cinnamon and nutmeg, and tossed in an aromatic hoisin sauce.

Everyone is talking about this pork belly!

I’ve seen so many people talking about this dish on social media, that I felt the extreme need to investigate and give you my honest thoughts. Is this worth the hype? ABSOLUTELY!

Oh my, there’s no way you can go wrong with pork belly but the seasoning on this one takes it to a whole other level. Also, I’m not sure if it is because of the way they cook it or just because pork belly is a gift sent from heaven, but every bite was so tasty and juicy, I almost felt sad when I had my last bite.

Tonkotsu Ramen: Rich pork based broth with noodles, pork belly, Asian greens, braised bamboo strip, nori, soy stained egg and sesame seeds.

And because there is not such a thing as too much pork belly, we both went for Tampopo’s new Tonkotsu Ramen, aka a bowl full of yumminess and the tastiest broth you’ll ever try.

If that’s not a good enough description for you, let me tell you that I was full and still had like half of my bowl left, and kept eating because of how delicious it was! There’s tons of pork belly to satisfy your needs, and more than enough noodles to warm your heart. The soy egg was also delicious, and it’s definitely one of our favourite parts of every ramen bowl.

I’m sold, Tampopo, you’ve won my heart with this meal.

We almost thought of getting dessert but my stomach just couldn’t fit anything else, even though my heart was saying ‘get the churros!’ so this is where our foodventure ends. Needless to say, every bite was delightful and I think everyone should run and get pretty much everything that we had. You can thank me later 😉

Have you been to Tampopo before? What’s your favourite thing to order? I need some recommendations for our next visit (although I wouldn’t mind ordering the same things we had this time, tbh). Leave me a message or a comment, I’d love to know your suggestions! You can find me on Instagram (@michellelovestoeat), Twitter (@mlovestoeat), and Facebook (@michellelovestoeat). And make sure to follow me for more foodventures (I’m always documenting fun events and experiences on my Instagram stories!).

If you’re a brand, restaurant or fellow foodie and would like to collaborate, you can email me: contact@michellelovestoeat.com, and I’m sure we’ll create something great (and yummy) together!

That’s it for today. I sincerely hope this foodventure made you hungry, because revisiting this place with my shots surely made me crave some more delicious pork belly.

Make sure to check out my Instagram these days for a surprise related to last Tuesday’s post! 😉

Michelle’s out.
