My favourite pizza in Manchester

My favourite pizza in Manchester

Having beautiful weather on a long weekend means we had the best excuse to go out (of our comfort zone: the city centre) and explore a bit more of Manchester. This time we decided to hop on a journey to Didsbury to enjoy the sun.

Having beautiful weather on a long weekend means we had the best excuse to go out (of our comfort zone: the city centre) and explore a bit more of Manchester. This time we decided to hop on a journey to Didsbury to enjoy the sun.

When we were done walking around Fletcher Moss Park, we decided to walk towards West Didsbury and try to find somewhere nice to eat. I’ve heard quite a lot of good things about this area so I was feeling quite optimistic.

With the beautiful weather, every restaurant had a nice array of tables outside so everyone could enjoy the sunshine, and Proove was no exception.

Gabs and IĀ love pizza almost as much as we love each other, and because of that, we’re always on a mission to find our next favourite pizza place. Last week we went to Walrus to try their new menu and it was the biggest disappointment, so we needed a good slice to make up for those wasted calories.

Arancini and montanara? Yes, please!

We decided to start with some arancini because we can’t resist a good fried appetiser, and we also had some montanara, which is fried dough topped with tomatoes, mozzarella and shavings of pecorino. Both were absolutely fantastic and got me incredibly excited for the rest of the meal.

Bel Paese pizza: ricotta, Fior di Latte mozzarella, fresh cherry tomatoes and shaved parmigiano reggiano, dressed with homemade basil infused oil

My pie was a beautiful and perfectly cooked pizza full of fresh ingredients and yumminess, but I found that to be the case for both of our mains so I’m sure it’s a rule everything on the menu follows.

The mix of cheeses was absolutely fantastic, and each of them brought and different flavour and texture to the dish. The cherry tomatoes were baked with the pizza so they were a bit soft, which made each bite even better.Ā This is, by far, the best pizza I’ve ever had.

Neptuna pizza: San Marzano D.O.P tomatoes, anchovies, capers, oregano and olives.

G surprised me ordering this cheeseless pizza, but the end result was as delicious as my own choice.

The tomatoes were fresh and so incredibly rich in flavour, they served as the best base for those delicious toppings. I, personally, tasted anchovies in every bite I took, which was just what I wanted. And I know G loved every slice of it, so no complains on his side either.

After pizza we had dessert. A traditional tiramisu that even I enjoyed (and I’m not a big tiramisu fan!) so, from appetisers to dessert, this was a five-star experience.

The only bad thing is that West Didsbury feels a bit far away from the Northern Quarter, but it’s nice to know that if I want a perfect pizza, I can hop on a train and get here to find one.

Now I want to hear from you. Anyone lives or knows West Didsbury more than I do?Ā I’m sure the answer will be a resounding yes, because I know almost nothing. If so, please share some recommendations for our next visit, I’d surely love to take another walk if we keep getting sunshine.

That’s it for today,Ā  but if you want to read about some other fantastic dishes you need to try, make sure to check Tuesday’s article.

I’ll be back next week with some (hopefully) yummy food, and another pricey disappointment, so make sure to come back for that.

xx,

M.

What a great recommendation! We head to Fletcher Moss pretty regularly but usually end up having a roast in one of the pubs next door. Next time, it might have to be pizza!
