Visiting Hatch: vegan Mexican food at Marchador Tacos

As promised last week, here are my thoughts on Marchador Tacos plant based Mexican food. If you haven’t seen last week’s post, start here.

Vegan Mexican food at Marchador Tacos, Hatch

La Comida: Barbacoa tacos, a tamale, mini sopes and totopos with lashings of salsa, pickles and sauces.

Because we couldn’t decide for just one thing on the menu, we went for La Comida, which has a bit of everything, and seemed like the wisest choice to see (taste?) what Marchador Tacos has to offer.

The tamale was the winner on my book. The chipotle roasted squash and black beans filling made every single bite incredibly tasty, and the sauce on top was just beautiful. When we go to Hatch again, I’ll get a serving of tamales (and I’ll have a hard time sharing it with G).

The mini sopes were also delicious. You know that I loved all things fried, and these little boys were made of sweet potato and slow roasted garlic kneaded through masa dough, according to their menu, so that just sounds like all things yummy fried for a delightful bite. I’d definitely recommend these as a side too.

Barbacoa Tacos: Pulled Jackfruit in a rich sauce on soft corn tortillas with pickles and hot sauces.

The tacos were also good, but maybe a little bit too spicy (and messy) for my taste, so I think it’s more of a thing for those who enjoy hot sauces on their food. The textures were amazing, though, and I love a good colourful dish.

Overall, it was a great way to sample Marchador’s tastes, and it definitely opened the door for us to try more things on their menu.

Gabs and I reached a consensus: it was incredibly delicious Mexican food. None of that “good for being vegan/plant based” chat. Being a nonvegan, I believe that when food is good, it needs to compete with all of my meaty favourites, and these (specially the tamale and the sopes) can win that battle easily, so thumbs up for Marchador Tacos!

Now, what other Mexican food spots should we visit next time? And also, what other plant based dishes/restaurants would you recommend us to try? I’d love to hear your feedback! And if you’re looking for something else to read, maybe check out this cheesy foodventure we had on our Paris getaway.

That’s it for today, guys. Thanks for reading me!
