Yes. THERE’S A PIECE OF CAKE ON MY MILKSHAKE.
I promise I’m not yelling, I’m just too excited to tell you about this foodventure.
You guys know how much I love milkshakes, ice cream and pretty much anything that involves chocolate and tons of sugar (hello, cookie dough sandwich!), and last Saturday I didn’t know if I wanted cake, ice cream, a milkshake, or all of them, so when I saw pictures of a freakshake (yes, that’s their name) that included everything that I’ve ever loved on yelp, I had all the reasons I needed to head to Black Milk.
The place is incredibly nice and pretty. You can tell from the outside that they take good care of details in order to make their local a small piece of paradise in the middle of the city. I personally loved the wallpaper, pretty tiles and gold details that went from the initials by the door, to the plugs by the tables.
But let’s get freaky!
I saw someone coming out with a big milkshake topped with a brownie and some marshmallows and immediately knew that was what I wanted. I just went to the counter and said “I want that” and pointed (discretely) to the glorious freakshake that was catching my eye.
This baby is called ‘Marshmallow rodeo’ and it’s a chocolate and banana milkshake, with a really nice and moist brownie on top, marshmallows, and some whipped cream.
This was really good, although it was the thickest milkshake I’ve ever tried. I believe it was because of the bananas. What I do need to say is that the banana flavour is really strong, so if you don’t like that on your milkshakes (or desserts in general), you probably should skip it.
G always knows what to get, and he got what, to me, must be the best milkshake I’ve tried in my entire life. I really love salted caramel, and this was just the perfect amount of it on a milkshake. It wasn’t too sweet, but you could definitely feel the caramel flavour with every sip, which is what anyone that gets this should be expecting.
The cake was really nice and moist as well, but G found a way to make it all even better.
Okay so, we don’t really know if this is a thing. It probably is, since they serve you the cake right on top of the milkshake and, unless you decide to put it down on the plate and eat them separate, this should be the obvious way to proceed.
I didn’t think of that, he did, but it definitely brought the freakshake to a whole other level.
When I realized what he was doing, I did the same and (even though I knew I was going to regret it later) finished the whole thing in a bit.
They also have a Triple Oreo Cheesecake Freakshake that I need in my life, and I kinda regret not trying that one, but that gives me an excuse to go back, right?
This was a sweet experience 😉 and we had a really fun afternoon walking around Northern Quarter with our high sugar levels after all of this. And who wouldn’t?
That’s it for today! Thank you so much for reading me, and don’t forget to subscribe (just fill the box by the end of this page, right corner). Also, make sure you’re following me on Instagram (@michellelovestoeat) and let me know what other places or food trends/restaurants I should try next time!
TL;DR: Freakshakes exist and they’re the best thing since sliced bread. Dip your cake in your milkshake. That’s all I need to say.
